The key difference lies in the focus of the coaching:
- Life Coaching centers on personal areas like health, faith, relationships, and personal growth.
- Business/Executive Coaching emphasizes career development, leadership, and workplace dynamics.
While the contexts differ, the core coaching mindset, skills, and tools are largely the same – because people bring their whole selves to both life and work.
Is coaching new age?

Can I make a living as a coach?
Yes – it takes both skill and intention. Many of our students earn income through coaching, either as a full-time profession or integrated into another role.
Do I need a license to coach?
No license is legally required, but ICF credentials are increasingly expected. Our program is ICF Level 2 accredited and prepares you for professional credentialing with both ICF and Christian Coaches Network International (CCNI)

The International Coaching Federation (ICF) is the leading credentialing body for coaches. It does not offer training itself – but approves programs like ours that meet its highest standards. FAQs About Our Training
How long has the Global Center for Coaching been training coaches?
Our coach training began in 2005 as part of Western Seminary, which was the first seminary to offer an accredited coach training program. The curriculum was developed by pioneers Linda Miller and Jane Creswell, among the first to earn the Master Certified Coach (MCC) credential from the ICF. Today, the Global Center for Coaching continues that legacy of excellence.
How is your training conducted?
Courses are very interactive and taught live online via Zoom in a variety of formats – 2-day, 4-week, 6-week, or weekly versions. See our course calendar for details.
What’s the cost of the program?
Our full Advanced Certificate in Transformational Coaching (ACTC) program includes 9 courses at $700 each, totaling $6,300. Pay as you go.
Do I have to pursue a coaching career or be in ministry to take courses?
No. Many people take our courses to become better leaders, communicators, parents, etc. – without becoming professional coaches. Our training is built from a Christian worldview but designed for professionals in both ministry and marketplace settings.
How big are the classes?
Does your training count toward ICF credentialing?
All our courses are approved for ICF coach training hours. Our Advanced Certificate in Transformational Coaching (ACTC) is a Level 2 Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) with the ICF. Graduates apply for credentials using the Level 2 application pathway.
Can you do specialized training for our organization, staff or group?
We have partnered with many organizations, churches, etc. to provide specialized training, workshops, or courses just for their group. Contact us for details.
